Santander interns renovate space at NSPCC

Thursday 28 August

Career Academy students from All Saints Catholic High School spent the day at the NSPCC Hargreaves Centre in Liverpool as part of their internship with Santander in Bootle.

As part of Santander's CSR initiatives, the students took a day out from their six week internship to renovate an outside space at the centre which supports vulnerable children and young people.

Kitted out in NSPCC t-shirts, they stained benches and the outdoor decking area which is used for children to have one-to-one sessions with their psychologist or other dedicated professional.

Student Olivia Bradley-Moore said “It was a positive experience as we were all working together as a team. I was proud to be part of this activity and am pleased that Santander has given me this opportunity.”

Kristian Tilley, Team Manager at Santander organised the event with NSPCC, which is Santander’s nominated charity of the year. “In addition to making a contribution to this extremely worthwhile cause, this has also helped to develop the knowledge and skills of the five students who will be able to use the experience moving forward and demonstrate that they are able to work with stakeholders in the local community.”

Children at the centre have already used the outdoor area and staff provided feedback to Santander about how the children enjoyed the new space and how it made for a very positive change of scenery for them.
